Molluscum Contagiosum and Homeopathy: Natural Approach to Healing

Updated: Sep 19

Molluscum contagiosum is a viral infection affecting skin caused by a pox virus. It appears as raised, flesh-coloured bumps, 1-5 mm in size with a central dimple.

It mainly affects children, but adults can also contract it through direct skin contact or contaminated objects.

Most cases of molluscum contagiosum will usually clear up on their own within two years, but sometimes it takes up to 4 years.

Homeopathy offers a gentle, natural and non-invasive approach. It works by stimulating the body's natural healing mechanism.

Homeopathic remedies are prescribed individually to each person based on their characteristic physical, mental and emotional symptoms, i.e. ten children with the same diagnosis of molluscum contagiosum will need ten different homeopathic prescriptions 'tailored' to their symptoms.

Below are a few homeopathic remedies commonly used for molluscum contagiosum:

Thuja: This remedy is known for its action on skin growths, warts, and skin infections.

Silicea: Helps to expell foreign objects form the body, making it useful for non-resolving skin conditions.

Calcarea Carbonica: It can be useful for individuals with a poor immune response and susceptibility to skin infections.

Sulphur: A very useful remedy for skin eruptions with itching and inflammation.

Natrum Muriaticum: Those who may need this remedy present with dry or sensitive skin.

It is necessary to consult a qualified homeopath for the best benefit of homeopathic approach. With the correctly prescribed remedy, you can promote natural healing and restore healthy skin.
