About Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a gentle treatment technique that prompts the body to repair and  rebalance.  This   calming   procedure  can  safely and effectively treat pain in patients of all ages, including babies, pregnant women and the elderly.

Bowen Therapy (also called Bowen Technique) is a holistic bodywork therapy. A Bowen practitioner makes gentle, rolling movements on carefully targeted areas on the body with their thumbs and fingers.

With gentle pressure, the practitioner stimulates the superficial fascia, local sensory nervous system, blood circulation and lymphatic system.

The body’s response to the practitioner’s gentle pressure is to realign, rebalance and reset.

Occasional pauses between movements allow the body to respond.

The Science of Bowen

Bowen Technique stimulates the fascia, a matrix of protein that holds our body together. The fascia is a conductor for cellular communication.

Stimulation of the fascia and subcutaneous fat encourages the fascia to become more mobile.

Our bodies get caught in dysfunctional pain loops that continuously fire, even when there’s no longer evidence of tissue damage. By stimulating the nervous system, the Bowen Technique breaks these loops.

The technique also improves circulation and increases lymphatic drainage, helping nutrients to flow to injured tissue and reduce painful swelling.

What do you feel when you receive Bowen Therapy?

Patients   tell   us   the   Bowen   Technique    feels   like

a relaxing massage. It is more than simply physical therapy, due to the integration of mind-body connections.

Your  first  session will  be a reboot to align your body.

What follows is a series of one-hour sessions, in which your practitioner will perform autonomic integrating moves,   or   AIMs,   at   various  points  on  your  body.

Patients have one treatment per week.

Bowen Therapy works quickly and permanently.

Most patients report a 50 – 80% improvement after three   treatments   and   complete  success  after  just

10 treatments.

The result is improved healing in a faster timeframe and at lower cost to the patient.

"I expect to pass through this world but once, any good therefore that I do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow-creature, let me do it now. let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall never pass this way again."
