Two months ago, I saw a client - male, 45 years old, who suffered with persistent cough and difficulty breathing, following a chest infection and two loads of antibiotics.
He first developed a chest infection after his daughter was unwell. "It floored me", he said. "I ended up in bed with fever, fatigued, no appetite..." Cough was suffocating, retching; it made him to throw up.
One and half months later, he was trying to get on with his work and family commitments, however it was a real struggle.
As he was sitting in the therapy room, telling me about his physical symptoms, he looked pale, lethargic and with dark circles under his eyes, he mentioned to me: "I have very low energy, everything is an effort. The cough is dry, sometimes retching. It is hard to breath."
Even the least physical exertion left him breathless and he was gasping for breath.
He also had sore throat, post-nasal drip. He felt chilly, needed to wrap up and perspiration was increased during the night.
I prescribed two homeopathic remedies based on the totality of presenting symptoms Tuberculinum and Syc-co.
Client called me 12 days later to announce an improvement. He felt more energetic, it was easier to breath, the intensity and frequency of his cough has reduced by 50%.
He continued with his remedies for 4 weeks in total which contributed to his recovery.
There is a plethora of remedies in homeopathic Materia Medica which might be helpful in coughs and respiratory issues.
Homeopathy is a natural and holistic therapy. Each person is approached as a unique human being and remedies are "tailored" according to each person's characteristic symptoms. For an individualised prescription, it is necessary to contact a professional practitioner.
